Seriously. As if its roving censors (”guides”), restrictive software, screaming ads and often poor network performance were not reason enough to get your packets elsewhere, now you may add this: AOL has opted to unilaterally add gibbering bots to all of its instant messenger users’ “friend lists.” With them, users may now enjoy scintillating conversations like this:

(11:51:07) MovieFone: Excellent.
(11:51:17) me: excellent? what’s that supposed to mean?
(11:51:17) MovieFone: The Beat That My Heart Skipped (De Battre mon coeur s’est arrete). Brother to Brother
Dump AIM. Try Jabber instead.
