Does the Sommelier Recommend the Pinot or the Sirah with the $2.4M Bribe?
Prosecutors in California have asked a federal judge to sentence Randy “Duke” Cunningham, the former Republican Congressman who pleaded guilty to tax evasion, conspiracy to commit bribery and fraud, to ten years in prison.
Among the delectable revelations in prosecutors’ sentencing memo was Cunningham’s “bribe menu,” which “detailed in his own writing how much it would cost a Pentagon contractor for each million dollars’ worth of business steered their way. The initial price was $50,000, but included a volume discount as the contracts grew.”

How pervasive is the culture of corruption in Washington? Apparently Cunningham thought nothing of listing his bribes du jour on a notepad bearing his official letterhead and Congressional insignia.
Defense contractors must be doing very well for themselves to be able to frequent a five star joint like Duke’s Place. Do you have any questions about Iraq yet?
