No News Here
On the afternoon of September 11,2001, mere hours after the 9/11 attacks and more than a year before the administration trotted out Colin Powell for his PowerPoint presentation to the U.N., Donald Rumsfeld instructed his staff to consider an attack on Iraq, according to Department of Defense notes obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request.
NBC News made the FOIA request.
I’m sorry. That’s incorrect.
The request was made by ABC News.
Again, I apologize. That’s not right, either. Apparently, the liberal media had nothing at all to do with obtaining the documents.
Historically, this process of collecting information about important issues of the day and presenting the information — or “news” — via broadcast or print media was known as “journalism”; however, that term is no longer widely used, according to most linguists. (CBS News reported similar facts in 2002, but they don’t have much credibility since they made up all that stuff about the President shirking his National Guard duty, which is, of course, outrageous).
This came as no surprise to members of the reality-based community. We’ve suspected as much for years, despite denials by administration officials.
I’d like to believe that after 9/11 the administration focused its efforts on those ultimately responsible for the attacks, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
Nothing new here, folks. Move along.
