Reality v. Rhetoric, Volume II: Iran
Although I’m a relatively new immigrant to Saint Louis – I’ve lived in the city for about fifteen years – I’ve come to share in the sense of pride felt by many lifelong Saint Louisans in work done by the folks at Saint Louis’ 50,000-watt AM blow torch, KMOX radio. My neighborhood’s community radio station, KDHX, and the local NPR affiliate, KWMU, are both excellent; but the bulk of important radio broadcasting in Saint Louis takes place at 1120 on the AM dial.
The remarkable renaissance occurring in downtown Saint Louis is due, in no small part, to the efforts of KMOX’s Charles Brennan, one of the city’s most vocal and effective cheerleaders. From sports to news to local talk, the entire KMOX staff is top shelf. I have not yet listened to a Cardinals game on the Cards’ new “flagship station,” and I doubt I ever will. I actually miss KMOX when I’m traveling.
This afternoon, Paul Harris interviewed former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter about the build up to the war in Iraq and, more important for present purposes, the reality behind the rhetoric concerning Iran’s nuclear program.
You remember Ritter. He’s the kook who, in the months prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, ran around spouting off wacky notions like Iraq has no WMD’s and poses no threat to the U.S., and suggested that ousting Saddam would be “extremely dangerous.” That nut job.
Harris’ interview was outstanding. You really should listen to it in its entirety.
